It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vereda Ann (Ebb) Miller Atchison at the age of 81. Ebb departed this world peacefully at her home in Satsuma, Alabama on June 30, 2026 under the caring eye of her devoted daughter Andrea.
Ebb was born on September 3, 1944 at her family’s home in Chickasaw, Alabama, where she spent her childhood, graduating from Vigor High School in 1962. Ebb and her husband Billy were happily married for over fifty-seven years. They resided for over forty years in Saraland before eventually moving to Satsuma in 2007. They always seemed inseparable and it was difficult to think of one without the other. Ebb loved Billy and Billy sure loved Ebb! In 1988, Ebb graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of South Alabama, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Childhood Education. She worked as an elementary school teacher for thirty-one years, first for the Mobile County School System and then for the Saraland City School System until her retirement in 2009.
Ebb is preceded in death by her loving and adoring husband Billy Atchison, granddaughter Adrienne Williamson, parents Benjamin Lee and Doris Mable Miller, siblings Lawrence, Wilburn, Floyd, Audrey, Barney, Trammel, Charles Ray and Sandra. She is survived by her son Russell, daughter Andrea Lord (Gene), grandson Michael Williamson (Kristyn), great granddaughter Sophia, brothers Duke and Ronnie, sisters Becky and Lulaine, as well as nieces and nephews along with all their spouses and children, and all of her friends, too numerous to list.
Ebb loved every body. She loved her family, her friends, her neighbors, the children she taught, her wonderful nurses and caregivers, her dogs, her cats, everyone she met at the store and all babies. She loved Russell, Andrea, Michael, Adrienne and Sophia but most of all she loved her husband Billy. And she loved the Lord. What a blessing she was. She made our world a better place. As we mourn, we also rejoice, knowing that as Ebb took her last earthly breath, the angels burst into song and Heaven welcomed one of their own. We thank the Lord for Ebb!
Ebb’s wishes were, In lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Jimmy Carter Foundation.
