Born on July 26, 1936, Bubba lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and dedication to his family and community. A 1953 graduate of Vigor High School, he went on to attend Auburn University and proudly served his country in the National Guard.
For 62 years, Bubba was a beloved second-generation barber in Chickasaw, where generations of families sat in his chair, shared stories, and left as friends. His barber shop was more than a place for a haircut—it was a gathering place where his warm smile, quick wit, and genuine care for others made everyone feel welcome.
Outside the barber shop, Bubba's greatest passion was fishing. An avid outdoorsman throughout his life, he knew the Mobile-Tensaw Delta like the back of his hand. Whether casting a line at sunrise or sharing fishing tales with friends and family, he found peace and joy on the water.
Bubba was preceded in death by his father, Elbert W. Sansom; his mother, Ruby Rogers Sansom; his sister, Betty Sansom Darnell and her husband, Bob Darnell; and his beloved daughter, Mendylon Paige Sansom Strickland.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his son, Easum Dean Sansom; his daughter, Deana Sansom Gwin and her husband, Bobby; his grandchildren, Billy Sansom, Allie Sansom Henderson, Tanner Gilliand, and Emerson Gwin; along with many extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless customers whose lives he touched over the years.
Bubba will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love of family, his gift for conversation, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, at 2 pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 am prior to services. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Bubba's remarkable life.
