He was preceded in death by his parents William E. Strickland, Sr. and Lavada Booth Strickland along with his sister, Glorian Strickland Channell Andress.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Strickland, his son, William “Chris” Strickland of Northport, Alabama, Daughters, Ashley Strickland of Eight Mile, Alabama and Cherylle Knight of Prattville, Alabama, one grandson, Andrew Strickland Cox, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to one devoted cousin, Ralph Booth and very close friend, Donnie Carlisle and their family.
William worked at American Cyanamid, Cytec, and Kemira Chemical plant at the same location for 42 years before retiring in 2015.
William enjoyed deer hunting, watching and attending Alabama Crimson Tide football games, and spending time with his grandson, Andrew.
Pallbearers are Scott Daughtry, Matt Tsark, Mike Smith, Ricky Thames, Henry Cox and Josh Booth. Honorary pallbearers are the Vigor Men’s Monthly Breakfast Group (which William liked to call the “Old Folks”).
The family will receive friends at Radneys in Saraland, on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 9:30am to 11:00am with service being held at 11:00am. Burial will take place at 1:00pm at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
