Alexander "Alex" James Pattelli

February 26, 1951April 28, 2021

Alexander James “AJ” Pattelli, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of LaSalle-Peru, IL passed away on April 28, 2021, at the age of 70, following a long battle with cancer.

“AJ” was born in LaSalle, IL to Angeline and Primo Pattelli, February 26, 1951. He graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School in 1969. He then served 2 years active duty - CBattery, 7BN, 1st Field Artillery and as an Army Reserve Recruiter. AJ retired in 2012 from the IL Dept of Transportation as an Engineering Technician. AJ coached Little League and Pony League baseball for many years and touched so many lives along the way. AJ was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges head on. Despite the pain, AJ remained a hero and stayed strong until the end. AJ had a passionate love affair with anything sweet, including ice cream, smarties, turtles, pies and candy. AJ understood the value of family and friendship and would provide the shirt off his back for anyone in need. His DIY attitude is summed up in his famous quote that he would routinely state to whomever he was working with: “You have to be smarter than what you are working with”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Diana (Schell) Pattelli, and sons Bryan of FL; Matt (Michelle Shanley) of Elgin, IL; and Chad of FL. He was the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren: Sierra Rose, Primo, Giada, Madison, Makenzie, & Molly Jo. He is also survived by 3 brothers Eugene (Patricia) of Ft. Myers, Florida; Frank (Martha) of LaSalle, Il. and Jerry (Rhonda) of Princeton, Il.

He was preceded in death by his parents Primo & Angelina Pattelli, Son Michael Pattelli in 2008, and Nephews Mark in 1990 and Drew in 2018.

Funeral services will be at a later date.
