So sad to be reading this.  I worked with Al at the County of Riverside.  He was always dedicated to the job at hand, always smiling, joking around.  Bruce & I really enjoyed our Friday  Night happy hours with Al and Vicky and especially the ice cream afterwards.  Bruce and I will always remember playing golf with Al, winning several tournaments, he was so fun and loved Vicky and his family to the moon and back.
We will never forget him or all the memories we shared.  Hugs and prayers to Vicky and family.

Al was such a kind, caring and supportive person.  He always had a calming attitude towards our community and life in general.  Al was always willing to help at our community parties especially when it came time to set up the keg and pouring the first beer. We have been the lucky recipients of the first pour on many occasions. Just to test it, he would say. Will miss his smiling face as he walked around our community listening to his tunes and also at our community parties watching he and Vicky dance. You could feel their love. To his family, he loved you and really enjoyed your time spent together. Sending our deepest condolences. ❤️

We always enjoyed talking to Al at the pool and hot tub. Most of our conversations were about RV trips . Also enjoyed watching Al & Vicky dance at all events. Vicky just remember all of the goods times you had together.

Al was quite a guy. We loved to see Al & Vicky "cut a rug" at many of our park's dances. He always had a funny "one-liner,"  and great jokes. We will miss you Al, a definite loss for Goldtree.

Al was a good family man and a well respected one of the Gold Tree community,  he will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Al and Vicky would always stop outside my house for a chat and some smiles in the early evening during "Happy Hour"
and those memories will never fade.


A good good man and a good neighbour . Al kept an eye on our home at Gold Tree when we were back in Scotland . I spent many an hour over 12 years talking soccer with Al in the hot tub ! He was very knowledgeable about our favourite sport . Barbara called him Mr Cool , collar up at the clubhouse dances and a nonchalant line dancer ! One meets many people in life , some make a real impression , Al made a real impression with his obvious love for Vicky and his care for people . We won’t forget .

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. He was a happy and friendly soul here at Gold Tree. We enjoyed seeing Vicky & Al at "Put Put time" in the park. After asking how they were doing, he would always respond
"Finer than Ice Cream!" He will bring a smile to our faces every time we think of him.

We were so sorry to hear about Al's passing.  My husband and I frequented Gold Tree every fall and spring and we could always count on seeing Al in the hot tub or pool. It was always great to catch up with him each time. We will miss seeing him.  Hugs to Vicki and the rest of his family.

Al was a true gentleman, with an open mind and and an open heart. He and Vicky were among the first people to welcome us to our Gold Tree community, graciously inviting us to join their table at Thanksgiving.  Al and Vicky were among the first couples to hit the dance floor at community parties,  and we knew we were watching a couple who were deeply in love. We'll miss you, Al. 

My dad and I installed the sprinkler system at our house in Brick Township NJ. in 1970???? I think? He was really good at electrical and showed me step by step (and let me do it) how to wire the timer to the house- I remember feeling so confident and loved by him- the words he spoke to me that day I hear in my mind almost everyday. "You can do anything you put your mind to" when I am faced with anything that requires detailed thought or determination, those words (and sometimes his voice) are what always comes to mind...  

I loved being around Grandpa, he made me feel loved, accepted, and appreciated. He was jolly, welcoming, friendly, funny, peaceful, and almost always the biggest kid in the room. I remember spending time at his house in California in the summer, swimming in the pool, eating Grandma's egg salad sandwiches and ice cream sandwiches. I love you Grandpa.

Al Packwood is just one of the men that never had to boast or prove a thing to anyone - he was true, honest, hard-working, caring and faithful.  Spoke his mind and never wavered in his love for Vicky and his family.  I would go to the beach with Vicky and Al and his ritual was to call each of his three sons once we got set up - pretty sure the two in California were still in bed!   

His heart was big and made others feel special, always there to lend a helping hand in our community of GoldTree.... whether you asked or he just happened upon a situation.   I am blessed to have known you Al and shared a tiny bit of your joy and optimism for life.    We shall all look after Vicky.    Chris Golen
