June 22, 1936 - April 9, 2020
Heaven gained another angel April 9th, 2020.
Maxine was born in London Ontario, Canada but grew up in St. Thomas and Windsor.
Eventually she moved to Stoney Creek where she met her husband-to-be, Hector Ridge. They married June 24, 1961 and had 2 daughters, Heather and Karen.
In 1969 they moved to Grand Island, NY. They stayed there until they decided in 1976 to make another move to warmer climate and landed in Sarasota, Florida which they made their permanent home. Maxine got her United States citizenship on February 26, 2007.
After Maxine retired from Jacobsons on St. Armand’s Circle she became a regular on the computer playing POGO where she met dozens of friends across the country. Her real love was following the Tampa Bay Rays and a fan of the Lightning and Bucs teams. Her morning routine was wrapped up with phone calls to friends, and afternoons were “word search” and “The Young and the Restless” UNLESS there was a baseball game on TV.
Maxine had a kind heart and always had her home open to family and friends. She had a way to make people laugh. Her smile was one to remember and that’s just what she’d want us to do.
Preceded in death by husband, Hector Ridge; parents, Minnie and Charles Thompson; brother-in-law, Donald Ridge; and nephew, Kevin Ridge.
Survived by daughters, Heather Ridge, and Karen (Mike) Anderson; sister-in-law, Sheila Ridge; nieces, Kathleen and Kelly; 3 great nieces; 1 great nephew; 1 great-great niece; 1 great-great nephew; Aunt Alice; and Cousin Patsy and family; and many friends from Florida and Canada.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmsrobartsfuneralhome.com for the RIDGE family.
