Bertha was born on November 4, 1934, in Quito, Ecuador. She was the oldest of her siblings, whom she cherished, a devoted mother to three children, and a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.
She lived in Ecuador until her forties, when she relocated to New York City. She resided in Astoria, Queens, for over twenty years before retiring to Sarasota, Florida. She was deeply proud of her Ecuadorian heritage, as well as her home of Astoria.
Bertha worked hard for most of her life and took great pride in her work ethic. In retirement, she remained active, and enjoyed exploring, traveling, and being with friends and family. She was a devout Catholic, a woman of unyielding faith. Bertha was courageous, outgoing, and loved her family more than anything else. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Hilda, Alicia, Ruth Aurelia, Patricia Granda, Manuel and Carlos Jacinto Coba, and Anna Lucía Riggio; her children Maria (Manoj) Bagley of Sarasota, FL, Emilie (Mikael) Norström of Stockholm, Sweden, and Fausto Ramiro (Rosa del Pilar) Martínez of New York, NY; her grandchildren Sheila and Nikita Bagley of Sarasota, FL, Jamil Martínez of New York, NY, Jasson (Charlene) Martínez of Parrish, FL, Frida (Edin) Norström Masic and Jennifer Norström of Stockholm, Sweden; and her great-grandchildren Miya Isela, Ethan James, Kayla, Ayden, and Juliette Martínez; Idris Norström Faye; Belize, Valerie, and Havana Norström Masic.
