A Sarasota native, she was a 1950 graduate of Sarasota High School , and spent the latter part of her life living in Sarasota.
She was an active lifelong member of Touchpoint Community Church (Disciples of Christ) where her parents were founding members. She was a leader in the church serving as an elder, on the church board, and was a member of numerous church groups.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Donald Dowdy. She is survived, and will be greatly missed, by her children (William, Michael, and Carinda), their spouses, her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Family Graveside services will be conducted at Palms Memorial Park and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Touchpoint Community Church Blasingame Family Scholarship Fund.
