My condolences to Carolyn's family and friends. I met Carolyn in the ‘90s when I was a student at George Washington University and I was doing some odd jobs for her late husband Tom. And to do odd jobs for Tom and Carolyn was to feel like a member of the family stopping by for a visit, getting some minor things done, and then having a rich and rewarding chat over coffee about anything from art to economics. 

Such a lovely person like Carolyn shall always have a place in my heart. May her memory be a blessing. 


Stuart, Emilie, and Lucie— I was shocked and saddened to hear of Carolyn’s passing. My deepest condolences to all of you. I knew Carolyn for many years at EBG, and always enjoyed working with her. While I know she excelled professionally and was proud of the work she did, what I will hold in my memory is her personal warmth and graciousness, her gift of engaging others around her, her cheerfulness, and her love of family. I always looked forward to her sunny presence when she would come to the Washington Office and we could enjoy a catch up about our families. She was the loveliest woman.

Dear Emily, Jeri and I were so sad to learn of Carolyn’s passing. A flood of memories came rushing back of the fun dinners at your house in Washington, with Tom applying his line chef skills and we rummaging around the wine cellar for an  appropriate wine. The dinner table was always punctuated with incisive discussions of politics, economics, and religion, all topics common wisdom says you should avoid. But Carolyn always steered the discussions carefully so we stayed on a higher plane. As a partner, she was diligent to a fault and always concerned about the clients’ interests, which sometimes meant working late into the evening hours. She was a special person in every respect and represents all that is good and valuable in a person. Jeri and George Sape

I was heartbroken to hear of Carolyn's transition. My sympathy and condolences to you.
I had the privilege of assisting Carolyn for over 7 years.  She was kind and considerate.  Carolyn often spoke of Lucy, who was her pride and joy.  I remember when she starting dating you Stuart, she came passed by desk and told of how you met.  As she started telling me more about you, she was quite giddy.  I said to her, "Carolyn, are you in love"?  And she said with the biggest smile, "yes."  I was so happy for her.  Then shortly after, she told me about the engagement.  Seeing her happy and still enjoying her work here at EBG was quite refreshing.  Although she mostly worked off-site, whenever she came into the office, it was always a pleasure seeing her.
She will be missed!

So sorry to hear the unexpected news of Carolyn's passing. When I first came to EBG I used Carolyn's former office, which still had this rather unusual desk. Later her office was close to mine,  While never directly tied to her disability work, I often assisted in projects as needed and enjoyed working with her as well as her outgoing personality. (I was also thrilled to find out she lived in a house I had often noticed when commuting to school in the 1962-71 period). 
When she returned to the firm I had the pleasure of taking her out to lunch and rekindling a friendship.  I particularly enjoyed watching the relationship with Stuart grow - the two of you always seemed so happy, and later it was always good to see Stuart drop by when she came to DC for her periodic visits in recent years. 
She certainly will be missed!

Our sympathies and condolences to the family.  I had the privilege of working with Carolyn at EBG.  She was one of the most gracious people I worked with who always had something wonderful to say about a project she was working on, or especially about her family.  She always had a spark in her eye and a smile on her face.  She worked tirelessly in her career and we will all be missing someone extraordinary.  We hope you will always find comfort in the memories of your times together. 

I was privileged to work with Carolyn at EBG.  Her unbounded energy and intellect were matched by her gracious and elegant presence.  She was a 'rock star' in her field and a terrific colleague.  She will be missed indeed.  

My sincerest condolences to the family for this great loss.  I met Carolyn when I first came to work at EBG in 1999.  I really enjoyed our conversations and the many words of wisdom she shared with me over the years.  My prayers go out to you.  May you find a measure of peace and comfort in the fond memories that you share.
