Charles Edward Hartong, Sr., 86, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Akron, Ohio died November 29, 2010.
Charles was born in Akron and was one of 12 children. He moved to Sarasota in 1968 and worked as a carpenter until he retired in 1987.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bobbie, his granddaughter, Tracy, and his parents, Mary and Charles.
He is survived by his sons, Charles, Jr. (Jill), Chip ( Linda) and Jim Hartong, all of Akron; daughters, Pat Woodman of Sarasota and Peg Hartong of Akron; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brothers, Ralph and Howard Hartong; sister, Vera Strayer and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held December 4, 2010 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Schermesser Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio.
