Doug was a graduate of Pine View and Sarasota High Schools and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Business from New College of Florida.
Doug married Ruth "Damaris" Castillo on April 12, 1980.
His passion was reaching out to nations spreading the word of Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Damaris, were advisors at Fellowship of Believers of Sarasota. He did missionary work in Guatemala, Cameron, Africa, South and Central America. He used his career in Quality Habitat for International Sustainable Agriculture, to progress his mission works. He also had passions in playing Saxophone, watching and coaching soccer and spending time with his grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his wife, Damaris; children, Carlos, Joshua, Stanley and Zack; daughters in law, Crystal and Christina; a sister, Cheryl Gottfried; a brother, Ken Heinlein; and grandchildren, Gavin, Triston, Lance, Jasmine, Logan, Carson, Kaydence, Colbi, Liber, Benjamin and Matthew.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:00am at Fellowship of Believers, 3333 12th Street, Sarasota, FL.
Memorial Donations in Charles memory may be made to the Fellowship of Believers for his grandchildren's missionary work.
