

A proud 1941 graduate of Sarasota High School, Mr. Peters served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1943. He later worked as a ranch foreman at O-Bar-O Ranch and spent 28½ years as an installer/repairman with GTE, retiring in 1985.
Active in his community, Charles served on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Sarasota and was deeply involved in the Gulf Coast Wood Carvers, holding several terms as president and other officer positions. He was also a devoted member of Bee Ridge Baptist Church since July 13, 1952, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Trustee. Additionally, he volunteered at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s 7 Waldemere floor for 21 years.
Charles was passionate about various hobbies including vegetable gardening, canning, wood carving, cooking, and later in life, quilting and Swedish weaving blankets.
He was married to the love of his life Marilyn, for 55 years before her passing in 2007. Charles is survived by daughters Teri (Bill) Fisher and Stacy (Bill) McClain, both of Sarasota, 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a brother, Edward of Virginia He was predeceased by siblings Glen, Norman, Carl, and Betty.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Sarasota Memorial Park, 5833 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231. Following the graveside service, everyone is encouraged to attend a potluck lunch, meat and drinks provided by the family at the Sarasota County Farm Bureau from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
