He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Patricia, his brother Ray (Caron) and his brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and Maggie, beloved Sheltie puppy.
A native of the Detroit area, Chuck attended General Motors Institute in Mechanical Engineering, working as a staff engineer with the Cadillac Motors division. After becoming paraplegic in 1973, he also received an MBA from Wayne State University and a Law Degree from the University of Miami. He practiced Patent Trademark and Copyright Law under the mentorship of Attorney Gene Malin in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and moved to open his own successful law practice in Sarasota in 1985 retiring in 2014.
After a short but strenuous struggle with pancreatic cancer and many years of activities interrupted by pressure ulcer surgeries Chuck moved on to God and new adventures.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lena and Chuck Pietkiewicz; his brother, John, and his sisters Mary Louise Wright and Pearl French. Stopping at the Rainbow Bridge he’ll meet up with beloved critters Duffy, Chance, Katie, Pyewacket and Tyler.
Chuck remained a passionate power boater having had the opportunity on vacations to cruise on various trawlers and power boats one of which he helped design and live aboard for a number of years. He also was an avid model airplane builder and RC pilot with the Sarasota Model Airplane Club and enjoyed cribbage and puttering with woodworking and power tools.
There will be a memorial Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, Friday, June 29th at 12:30pm.
