
Charles Jamieson Shelley of Sarasota, Florida passed away on February 25, 2017, at Sarasota Hospice House surrounded by family. C.J. was born on April 27, 1951, in Flint, Michigan to his parents the late Barbara and Charles E. Shelley.
A loving husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Marilynn, his two sons Spencer J. Shelley (wife Angel) and J. Tyler Shelley (wife Amanda) and their sons Colin and Harris. In Michigan he leaves his sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Robert S. Fuller.
C.J. was a kind, generous, creative, entertaining and adventurous man who loved animals, especially his cherished family pets Maggie and Tucker. His interests included music, cars, fishing, golf and volunteering, most recently at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota. He was a former local business owner of A & D Pool, and former member and club champion at Bent Tree Country Club in Sarasota, Florida. In Flint, Michigan, he owned Shand Industrial Electronics. Other memberships included Essex Golf and Country Club in Windsor, Ontario, the Flint Golf Club in Michigan, the Flint Institute of Arts, the Flint Rainbow Club in Baldwin, Michigan, and Trout Unlimited.
No service is planned at this time. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sarasota Hospice House in Sarasota, or to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Flint.
