Chloe Christine Swilley, age 89, of Barnardsville, NC, formerly of Sarasota, FL went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 26, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 24, 1925 in Yancey County, NC to the late Fred Johnson and Gertrude Phillips Johnson Griffin. Mrs. Swilley attended Friendship Baptist Church in Sarasota, FL and Barnardsville Church of God in Barnardsville, NC, where she was very loved by both congregations. Some of her hobbies included working in her vegetable garden and canning. Mrs. Swilley was very family oriented and loved her children.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, John Swilley; one step-daughter, Ruth Jones; three grandchildren, Raymond Jones, Daryl Jones and Lennie Pearson; her beloved sister, whom she spent a lot of time with, Margaret English; her brother, Titus Johnson; and her best friend, Eleanor Potts.
Left behind to cherish Mrs. Swilley’s memory are two step-sons, Johnny Swilley of Waycross, GA and Elmer Swilley of Cary, AZ; one son, Bud Swilley and wife, Regina of Sarasota, FL; one step-daughter, Grace Pearson of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Carolyn LeBlanc and husband, Gregg of Barnardsville, NC and Patricia Michael and husband, Bob of Cedaredge, CO; thirteen grandchildren, Ronnie Jones and wife, Candy, Bruce Jones, Larry Pearson, John Swilley, Jr., Jeff Swilley and wife, Fayle, Julieanne Whiznart and husband, David, Tracy and Kristi Swilley,Lisa Hifflefinger and husband, Mark, Martin Drymon and fiancé, Rachel Hart, Bryan Michael and wife, Jenna, Amanda Gworek and husband, Marty and Adam Swilley and wife, Jenn; seventeen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Palm-Robarts Funeral Home in Sarasota, FL with Pastor Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
