Worked with Suzanne for many years at SCF (then MCC) and knew her even before when she was a student. Was always so happy to be in her orbit-a wonderful teacher and an even more impressive poet. My heartfelt condolences to her family. Gary Russell

It was a rainy day when we met. 1991 and my first book of published poetry. As life would have it, the University of West Florida published Suzanne Hancock-Keyworth’s poetry a few years before and we not only shared the same maiden last name - we resided on the same street in the same town and attended the same college. I had to meet her. The rain had embellished the pot holes into miniature lakes and my bicycle made it through each one without hesitation. There I was at her door. There she was with her long hair fluffing about, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She laughed at the parallels we encountered.

During our thirty one years of friendship, collaborations, endless edits, and sharing of our beautiful family experiences, we developed a fabulous sister hood. As life would have it, eight generations ago, our grandfathers were brothers.

Suzanne’s caring and gentle nature nurtured many of us through the days. She will always be my sister in heart and one of the most positive influences in my heart. I will carry her words and wisdoms with me.

Rest In Peace our beautiful Suzanne.

So many years and memories since we graduated in 1966! Suzanne (aka “Squeaky”) known to many of us by her nickname always showed a happy disposition and friend to all. Despite the passing years, we reconnected in 2019 and 2020 via lengthy phone calls and emails. We planned to get together when I returned to Sarasota and then Covid changed our plans. My deepest condolences to her children and family. She was so proud of you all and her accomplishments as a English professor.
Sincerely, Pam (Morey) Hart

My sweet "Big Sis" you and I have been like sisters for years, not Aunt and niece. We shared so many stories and secrets over the years. We have been there for each other thru the bad and good. Our families were united as one. You were an awesome daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. You loved your children and All the grandchildren, of course you always knew you were great, especially with the great-grandchildren.

I love you 💖😘 sweet sis. I miss you now and I always will. I love you to the moon and back.

PS I love you more 💕😘

My aunt Susie was always special to me🥰 she was easy to talk to and always willing to listen. She had a big heart with a lot of love to share with those in need. She helped me get through a rough time in my love life and I'm happy to say I am with the love of my life because she told me not to give up. Every life she touched is the better for it!! I love you and will miss you! Love Kim and Mark
