“If it’s DiLascia’s, It’s Delicious”
Daniel F. DiLascia, 90, of Bradenton, FL (formerly of Binghamton, NY) passed away unexpectedly on November 5th, 2022, with his family by his side.
He was predeceased by his parents Donato and Caroline DiLascia; and his wife Mary B. DiLascia (Baker). He was also predeceased by his siblings Frances Cordi (Angelo), Anthony DiLascia (Elizabeth), Rose Bartolotto (Anthony), and Mary Ferranti (William) and brothers-in-law, Jack O’Day, Stephen Baker, Robert, and John Baker.
Daniel is survived by his three children that he loved unconditionally Kelly DiLascia (Dan Stenham), Daniel DiLascia, Jr. (Bridget) and Patrick DiLascia. His three grandchildren that provided him with endless joy, Ryan and Reagan DiLascia and Leonardo Stenham and his constant four-legged companion, Nobel, and loving sister Vera O’Day and special niece, Caroline DiLascia Miller. He is survived by a special nephew, John Ferranti who Daniel spent countless years working together at DiLascia’s Bakery, side by side and they continued their weekly phone conversations every Monday and Friday. Daniel is survived by the most special neighbor friends that made his retirement life better in Florida, then he could ever imagine. A very special thank you to Gerri Kardosz and Kathi Beck. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Georgia Ondrejko (Robert), Susan Baker, brother-in-law Wiliam (Margaret) and Terrance Baker (Kathleen) and leaves behind several special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers who were part of his extended family.
Daniel was a 1950 graduate of Binghamton NY, North Senior, High School and soon thereafter he was drafted to serve in the Koren War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 from United States Army. Upon his return, he started a successful bakery business with his family. As a business owner his true passion was managing the day-to-day bakery operations and providing employment to so many individuals over the years. Many of his former employees had their first job at DiLascia’s Bakery or met their future spouse working there as this is where Daniel also met his future wife. Early retirement was not a fit for Daniel and he continued his baking career at Binghamton University, working until age 83. Next, for Daniel was a relocation with family to Florida where he continued to be a popular and lovable resident in his community.
The family will receive friends at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park on Tuesday November 15th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Military burial will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery, on November 29th. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Daniel may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Thank you, Dad aka “Turtle”, for showing us the story of a son of Italian immigrants who pursued the American Dream, what a beautiful life!
