

He was the best Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend, and doggy daddy to beloved springer spaniel, Amos. Thank you to Warda Marien great nephews, Braxton and Reid Marien, for adding Amos to their family. David was handsome, kind, and funny; anyone who was lucky enough to know him knew this to be true.
He was born in Dundalk, Maryland on October 31, 1948, to parents Forrest and Alice Francis. David graduated from Dulaney High School in 1966 and received many college degrees, both Associates and Bachelors, while in the US Army and shortly thereafter. His degrees focused on Engineering, Art, and Architecture.
David served in the United States Army from 1968-1972, to include time in Vietnam. Following his time in the Army, David served in the National Guard from 1973-1983. David also worked in the construction industry, first in Maryland and then in Florida. While living in The Meadows, David was known as everyone’s friend and was the handiest of men.
He was a member of the English Springer Spaniel Rescue and had a passion for helping others in his neighborhood.
David is survived by his daughter, Alice “Tia” Francis Flaherty of Rosedale, Maryland; his sister Mary Alice (Ronald) Marien; nephews Jason and Mark Marien.
A Committal Service is being held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens on August 31, 2026 at 1pm.
