

Donald Warren Atha, of Sarasota, Florida, died Monday, November 29, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born October 11, 1937, to the late Erskine and Clara Ruth Atha (Barnes), in Mansfield, Ohio. He graduated from Killbuck High School in Killbuck, OH. He married the late Bonnie Atha (Chanay) in 1957.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie, his father, mother, brother and two sons, Craig and Kris, and Daughter in Law, Loretta.
He is survived by; sons, Douglas (Barbara) of Sarasota, Neil of North Port, Joel (Pam) of North Port, Corey (Eleanor) of Clearwater, 11 grandchildren (Heather, Jacob, Samantha, Hope, Lindsay, Leebo, Dusty, Justin, Alison, Madison, and Timothy) and 3 greatgrandchildren Sophie, Elizabeth, and Erin. He is also survived by Sister in Law, Marilyn Jones of Killbuck, OH, Brother in Law, Forest Chaney (Marsha) of Killbuck, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
Donald served in the Navy for four years. He was stationed in Washington DC in communications. After being honorably discharged, he moved back to Killbuck where he and Bonnie lived and started their family. In 1968 the family moved to Sarasota, Florida. Among other things, Don and Bonnie owned and operated the Violet Ray Laundry Mat. For the past 40 years Don has owned and operated The Country Store Interiors. Prior to his retirement in May 2021, he would go to “work’ simply to be around all of “The Girls’ that worked for him for most of the 40 years.
Don considered his greatest accomplishment to be the life that he and Bonnie built with their six sons. He enjoyed spending time with them and watching them start their own families. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Tampa Bay Rays, and Ohio State Football. For many years he served as treasurer for Babe Ruth Baseball where he made many friends.
A visitation for Donald will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 12:30 PM until the time of service at 1:30 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, with Pastor Rick Beachy officiating.
