Doris L. Viesta

DORIS LILLIAN (ALBERT) VIESTA, aged 88 passed away on August 20th, 2026 in Sarasota, Florida. Born September 2nd, 1937 in Stamford, CT to Louis P. Albert and Lillian E. (Dick) Albert of Darien, Connecticut. Doris graduated from Stamford High School in 1955.

Doris found the love of her life, Dominick Viesta in middle school. They married at 20 years of age in 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, CT. Doris and Dom celebrated 66 years of marriage before Dom passed in 2024.

She lived in Stamford for almost 60 years and moved to Sarasota, Florida where she enjoyed her retirement.

Doris worked as an Insurance Secretary for many years but her passion was raising her 3 children. She loved her family deeply and taught her children the values of faith, hard work and perseverance. She had a silly sense of humor and infectious laugh.

Doris enjoyed traveling with Dom across Europe and the United States visiting many religious sights and sandy beaches. She loved spending time with her family and enjoying a good Hershey bar.

She had a special fondness for pets of all types, especially cats.

Her Catholic faith was central to her life and she had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary. Doris attended Sacred Heart Church and The Church of Saint Cecilia in Stamford as well as over 20 years a member of Saint Michael’s Church in

Sarasota, FL.

Doris is preceded in death by her devoted husband Dominick Viesta and her brother Louis Albert.

She is survived by her 3 children and their spouses Denise Viesta and Roxanne Bisignano of Sarasota, FL, Dom Viesta Jr and Kimberly Oser Viesta of Sarasota, FL and Deena Viesta Chaffee and Craig Chaffee of Hooksett, NH.

Doris was grandmother to six grandchildren, Nicole Viesta and spouse Kimberly O’Connor, Stephanie Viesta Schlegelmilch, and husband Tye Schlegelmilch, Victoria Viesta, Trace Viesta, Nicholas Chaffee and Rose Chaffee. She was great-grandmother to Bruce Schlegelmilch, Dutch Schlegelmich, Beau Schlegelmich and Wolf Schlegelmilch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday September 8th, 2026 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Rd, Stamford, CT.
