Eddie was a graduate of Sarasota High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University in South Carolina. After college, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by playing professional basketball in Europe.
Eddie later built a successful career as a Project Manager and Sales Professional at Unique Kitchen and Bath. He was also a proud member of the SRQ Club. Beyond his professional life, Eddie had a deep passion for music, especially playing the drums and guitar, and he generously gave back to his community by coaching youth basketball teams in Sarasota.
Eddie was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Oliver Gay.
He is survived by his father, Edgar William Gay of Sarasota; his sister, Gina (Tom) Stinson of Sarasota; his brothers, Larry Gay of Sarasota and Jerry (Lisa) Gay of Geneva, Alabama; and his aunt, Jane Perin and 9 special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on January 18, 2026, at
Tri-Par Estates, 1616 Preside Street, Sarasota, FL 34234.
