Eleanor Schubel Preve

She was born December 18, 1916 in Newark, NJ. Eleanor married William F. “Phil” Schubel and together they had five children and 49 happy years of marriage in Freehold, NJ, Macon, GA, and Sarasota, FL. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Phil, in 1988.

In, 1992, Eleanor met and married Francis Preve. He predeceased her in 2008 after 15 years of marriage in North Port, FL and Port Charlotte, FL.

Eleanor was a Roman Catholic and a member of Incarnation Catholic Church in Sarasota, San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, and St. Charles Borromeo in Port Charlotte.

Eleanor was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom for her five children. She was active in the Sarasota Friendship Center, Salvation Army, Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Women’s Center in Port Charlotte.

Eleanor and Fran happily lived at South Port Square in Port Charlotte for many years: 17 and 11 years respectively.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons and three daughters, William F. Schubel Jr. (Marie) of Freehold, NJ, Glenn P. Schubel (Elizabeth) of Poultrey, VT, Nancy J. Clark (Richard) of Henderson, NV, Barbara E. Woodry (Terry) of Port Charlotte, and Jean S. Copeman (Ty) of Port Charlotte; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce Scherer of Sarasota; and uncle Ernie Scherer of California.

A Memorial Service will be held at South Port Square/Harbor Health, 23013 Westchester Blvd – 3rd Floor, Port Charlotte, on Wednesday, August 27th at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Eleanor’s name to St. Vincent de Paul, 21505 Augusta Ave, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
