I thought my brother was a handsome little devil.   He had pretty cobalt blue eye with long eyelashes.  Strong little body with nice biceps.  Beautiful brown wavy hair.  I loved to cut his hair and for years I was the only one he would allow to touch it.   Dapper but  current and comfortable was his style!  Here is my favorite school picture of Eric with his favorite sweater and favorite hairstyle. 

Eric was a fast runner. He scored many touchdowns in his Pee Wee career.   He made me a faster runner - on the toes,  A steady roller and ice skater,  a survival swimmer, and a fan of good music especially ROCK!   Number 21!  I think with so many years in front of the sliding glass window he learned to cheer from me, but I will always appreciate the loyalty and the encouragement he gave to me.

Find myself thinking about you today Eric!  You were such a talent!  I learned so much from you and my memories of you are so special.  We had so much fun when we were young.  A few I will never forget...Batman and Robing in the old station wagon.  Our 1st Communion together we went to the coloring class.  lol  Everything I learned from you -  drum rolls, finesse - pool shots; frisbee toss; fire building skills;  and cookie decorating.  Steve Miller  playing every morning before school!!   I know you are flying like an eagle and I want to thank you for always caring for me.

 As our 4th child Eric learned at an early age to scrap for whatever he wanted.  He loved collecting and trading things . One time he was about 10, he traded an insignificant toy for a knife set. Soon we got a call from the boys irate father saying he wanted his prize knife set back. Of course Eric returned the knife set to its rightful owner.

We have been grateful for this even tempered mild mannered child that God brought into our lives. Another fond memory of him is, while playing Hide and Seek in the house with his brother and sisters and after the game was over and  searching everywhere we couldn't find Eric and he wasnt responding to our calls.  I decided to look under the bed and there he was sound ASLEEP!

Eric always showed great respect for his parents and family and had a good heart for helping people in need.  I thank God for sending us this wonderful person and know in my heart that HE will always be there for Eric as Eric has been  for us.

My free spirited brother, Eric.   Praying you find eternal peace and happiness in heaven.   You had your own mind and followed your heart and stayed true to yourself.   I will never forget you.   I will always remember that little boy in the purple football uniform who was waiting to go out on the field and looking back at the family.   That is my most vivid memory of you. When I think of my brother Eric I think of the way he made people laugh because he had a way of looking outside the box. Everyone remembers his gator on a leash and boot skootin boogie across the kitchen floor. But I remember his storm drain drops during torrential downpours that were much faster than any log flume ride. I remember his poor man sled which was just a metal foot stool turned upside down, slick as ice going down our very steep hill that ended abruptly by slamming into our brick house cause it was the only you could stop. He was always inventing some version of "Wipeout" long before the show was known. He was fun & daring and reminded me of Evil Knievel who wasn’t afraid of anything and had the scars to prove it.
I look at this photo of a good man, the middle child, who often went unnoticed because of his softer, subtle nature. He wasn’t demanding but he made it clear he wasn’t going to conform to anyone else’s idea of a “good life”.
Eric’s life wasn’t always pretty. I’m sure most of us couldn’t have survived such a journey. But I will remember him the way GOD made him – A carefree, easy rider who took it one day at a time. And that makes me smile – because he lived like he knew instinctively that tomorrow wasn’t promised. 


My name is Lori Johnson I live next door to Erick for the last four years we shared many  evenings making supper together watching many movies drinking beer designing  things. I could always make him laugh .he help so many people he was such a good man he was my best friend and I love him dearly  . And I will miss him . I'll see u one day again my friend rest in peace
