Eric F. Stone

Eric Francis Stone, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born on November 1, 1933, in Abington, Massachusetts, grew up in Pleasantville, New York, was a childhood summer resident of Nantucket, Massachusetts, and continued to spend summers there with his family for the remainder of his life.

Eric was predeceased by his three older brothers: Stephen Stone of Coupeville, Washington; Eugene Stone of Nantucket, Massachusetts; and John Stone of Louisville, Kentucky.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Domini C. Stone, and his three children: Erica Stone Gregory and her husband, Tommy, of Sarasota, Florida; Christopher Stone and his wife, Yolanda, of Rye Brook, New York; and Edith Lentini Stone of Armonk, New York. He is also lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren: Grant, Eric, and Noah Gregory; Lincoln, Logan, and Skylar Lentini; and Julietta and Matteo Stone.

As a young man, Eric attended school studying animal husbandry and once dreamed of becoming a farmer. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a weather operator. After his military service, he began a career with General Motors in Tarrytown, New York. Following his wedding, Eric and his wife entered into a joint venture with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law to open a small optical business, Grace Optical, on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx. They grew the business into four locations and retired after working together for 30 years.

Eric had a lifelong passion for collecting stamps, photographing his family, reading, listening to folk music and was known for his quiet dedication to his interests and his family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to those he loved, and the life he built through hard work and perseverance.

A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Armonk, New York. Details regarding the service will be shared with family and friends.

Eric will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
