Ernest (Ernie) Edward Durino, age 81, of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born to the late Anthony Joseph Durino and Mary Durino, on September 15, 1940, in Glen Ridge, NJ. He graduated from Glen Ridge High School in 1958. Ernie started his career in construction. Eventually in 1979 Ernie and his cousin Leon, put their excellent cooking abilities to work by buying and running a pizzeria that was voted #1 in Bergen County and top ten in NJ in 1981. After a number of successful years, they sold the pizzeria and retired to Sarasota, FL.
Ernie was a proud member of the NRA, and loved hunting, fishing cooking, and especially spending time with his family. Nothing brought him more love and pride than his wife of 59 years, Toni Ann, his children, EJ and Danielle and his grandchildren. Ernie enjoyed nothing more than bringing people together for a meal or a laugh. He loved his extended family and took great pleasure in planning many gatherings with them regularly. Family, kindness, and loyalty were the epitome of his character. He will be remembered for his generous nature, sense of humor, infectious smile, incredible work ethic, amazing meatballs, fierce love for his family and his enjoyment of a vodka tonic or a glass of wine at Sunday dinners.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Toni Ann Durino; devoted children, Ernest (EJ) Durino Jr (Natalie), Danielle Christopoulos (Billy); loving grandchildren, Erika Coutinho, Anthony Coutinho, Delaney Durino, Madison Durino; endearing sister, Fran Varley (Bill); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
