Lin peacefully went to his heavenly Father Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Sarasota Hospice House. He was born to Edgar and Grayce Layton in Long Branch, New Jersey. He was 90 years old. Lin served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan in World War II. In 1950, he married Barbara Daugherty. In 1967, Lin came to faith in Christ and his life was forever changed. He served God through loving people and helping those in need. He worked in sales for Dominion Oil Company in Richmond, VA, retiring to Sarasota in 1975. After a sales career at West Florida Janitorial Supply, he retired to the beautiful mountains of western NC, where he continued serving, helping others, and sharing faith. Lin enjoyed fishing, tennis, and golf, but he loved spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his ready smile, warmth, and words of encouragement. Lin was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend.
Lin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Barbara Layton; daughters, Linda Yoder (Russ) and Becky Ripo (Richard); three grandchildren; Tim Newsome, Leigh Anne Booker, and Preston Yoder; five great-grandchildren; Madison, Desirea, Evan, Charlotte, and Ryleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
