Gail Louise (Garcelon) Gallup, 85, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on March , 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Known lovingly as Nan, Grandma, and Gigi, Gail touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on September 14, 1940, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Catherine Garcelon, Gail grew up with a warmth and kindness that would define her entire life. She dedicated 20 years to a career she truly loved as an OBGYN nurse in Illinois, where her gentle smile and compassionate spirit brought comfort to countless patients and their families.
Gail and her beloved husband, Girard Gallup, shared 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and love. Above all else, Gail cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her never-ending love for her family was the greatest gift she gave.
When she wasn't surrounded by family, Gail could be found outside in her gardens, planting flowers and nurturing them with the same care she gave to everyone around her. She delighted in watching the buds bloom all around her home. Gail was also a devout member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle, Illinois, where she shared her beautiful voice as part of the church choir.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Honeysett; her son, Bob Gallup; her four grandchildren, Lauren, Adam, Evan, and Braeden; and her three great-grandchildren, Harper, Beau, and Crew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Girard, her parents, George and Catherine, as well as her brother, Glenn.
No public services will be held. Donations can be made to any Alzheimer's foundation in her honor.
Gail's family finds comfort in these words, knowing she is safely home at last:
*I am home in heaven, dear ones, oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. There is still work waiting for you, so you must not idly stand by. Do it now, while life remaineth, you shall rest in God's own land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you home. Ah, the rapture of that meeting, oh, the joy I will have to see you come!*
