Gary S. Rorstrom

May 12, 1957 – February 7, 2012

Gary Rorstrom, a Florida native and lifelong resident of Sarasota, died February 7, 2012.

Viewing and memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11th at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, Florida 34232. Family viewing will begin at 12 Noon. All friends are welcome to join for a viewing at 1 p.m. with memorial services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Palms Memorial Park following memorial services.

Gary is survived by his son, LT Chad Rorstrom, of Kingsland, Georgia, and family, Jenn Rorstrom (wife) and sons Parker and Gavin; brother Lawrence Rorstrom, of Chuluota, Florida, and family, Donna Rorstrom (wife) and daughters Leesa and Caylee; and brother Aaron Rorstrom, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and family, Keverne Kaytrosh (wife).

Gary was owner of a carpentry and trim business in Sarasota for over 30 years. He provided professional services to his clients across Florida and to friends and family members wherever their homes were located.

Gary donated his craftsmanship and time to several area non-profit organizations, including helping prepare homes for the disabled with AmeriCorps and participating in fund raising events with Ride for Kids.

Gary was an active member of SADRA (Sarasota Area Dirt Riders Association) and OSDR (Old School Dirt Riders). Gary was also a longstanding member of FTR (Florida Trail Riders). Gary actively contributed to association development and operations, event planning and club activities, and was known to enjoy a brisk ride through an off road course and occasionally on the street as well.
