

Gerard was the beloved husband of Lois Egloff Grant, whom he married on February 8, 1969, in Huntington, New York. They shared 57 years of marriage and a life filled with family, service, and countless memories.
He was the devoted father of Daniel Grant and his wife, Jennifer, and Michael Grant and his wife, Liza DiMelfi. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan and Amanda, who brought him great joy.
Gerard was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard Grant and Rose Fallon. He is survived by his siblings, Carol Baada and husband Joe, Judy Berry and husband Bill, James Grant and wife Rita, Patti D’Aires and husband John, and Kathy Kechejian, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will remember him fondly.
Gerard graduated from North Babylon High School and later attended the New York Institute of Technology. He proudly served as a **Vietnam Veteran in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ingraham, beginning his military service on July 19, 1963.
Following his military service, Gerard worked at Grumman Aerospace Engineering Corporation before beginning a long and distinguished career with the Suffolk County Police Department. He joined the department on August 14, 1972, and was promoted to Detective on May 10, 1982. He retired on August 17, 2004. During his career, Gerard earned numerous awards and proclamations in recognition of his service and dedication.
Retirement did not end Gerard's commitment to serving others. He later worked for many years as a security guard at Babylon High School, where he continued to be a familiar and trusted presence in the community.
Gerard was also an active member of several community organizations, including the Babylon Lions Club, Babylon Rotary, and the American Legion. His dedication to his family, his profession, his community, and his country was an important part of who he was.
Outside of work and service, Gerard enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing golf, and one of his favorite traditions was his annual trip to Myrtle Beach with fellow policemen, where they spent a week together enjoying good company and plenty of golf. Many Sundays were spent cheering on his beloved New York Jets, a tradition that brought him great enjoyment.
Gerard will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, fellow police officers, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his many years of service and friendship. His memory will live on through the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, the community he served, and the many stories and memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.
