She is survived by her five children, Bruce T. Hancock, Robin T. Mabrey, William H. Hancock, Joseph (Simon) Hancock, and David A. Hancock; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her in-laws of Judson "Jack" Hancock Jr.
Born January 6th, 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, she moved to Florida in 1958 after graduating nursing school in St Louis and worked as an RN in the Obstetrics department of Sarasota Memorial Hospital for 37 years. Once retired, she continued to serve the community since as a midwife for several years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ for 58 years, engaging in church activities with great pride. She and husband James delighted in working in Yellowstone National Park for more than 10 years, as well as quilting, photography and attending hot air balloon events. Her most cherished moments were those spent with family and close friends.
Visitation will be Thurs, Jan 2 from 5pm to 8pm at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota. Funeral Service will be Fri, Jan 3 at 10:30am at First Christian Church, Sarasota.
