

Gloria Patricia Hanrahan, 82, of Sarasota, FL passed away on February 10, 2017. Daughter of Patrick and Julia Salmon, Gloria was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she graduated from Catherine McAuley High School, and Packer College. Growing up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, her favorite and most cherished moments included spending time with her grandmother after school, going to Coney Island and the beach with friends, and being with family vacationing in The Poconos.
She enjoyed her career with Kennecott Copper Corporation in Manhattan, as well as working in real estate in the 1980’s while raising her four children with her husband James. Gloria met her husband James (deceased) in 1954, as they spent 58 years of marriage living in London, New York, New Jersey, and retiring to Longboat Key, FL in 1989. Gloria loved to travel, had a passion for antiques, and was an avid bridge player.
Gloria is survived by her brother William Salmon (Carole) of Longboat Key, FL, daughter Maureen Collins (John) of Randolph, NJ, son David (Alyssa) of Randolph, NJ, daughter Karen Sirkin (Marc) of Trumbull, CT, son Matthew (Theresa) of Sarasota, FL, and 6 grandchildren – Tyler Collins, Julia and Sydney Sirkin, Allison, Emily, and Andrew Hanrahan.
Funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held this Friday, February 17, at 1:00 PM at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home and Memorial Park. 170 Honore Ave. Sarasota, FL. Donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
