Gregory Scott Knauer

Gregory Scott Knauer, age 63, of Sarasota, FL passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Gregory was born June 18, 1959 in Lincoln, IL to Luberta (Poffenbarger) Knauer and Floyd Otto Knauer, who both predeceased him.

He is survived by his only sibling, Sheryl Wagoner (Brian) of Emden, IL. Also by his nephews, Zachary Leonard (Rachel) of Brookfield, WI Austin Leonard of Emden, IL, Ben Wagoner (Katlynne) of Emden, IL, and honorary niece, Charlotte Neiner of San Antonio, TX. Great nephews and nieces; Paisley Leonard, Eloise Leonard, Zayne Leonard, Warren Wagoner, Leighton Neiner, and Emma Jean Neiner. He is also survived by a very special and dear friend, Kimberly Koennemann (Peter) of North Port, FL.

Greg graduated from Sarasota High School in 1978 and worked at Publix Supermarkets all over Sarasota/Longboat Key for over 30 years. He also worked at Regal Hollywood 11 in downtown Sarasota. Greg was a huge movie and music buff. He had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. He was a very generous person and was truly one of a kind. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service at a later date in Sarasota. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Concordia Lutheran Church in Sarasota, or Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, IL.
