He was born in New Rochelle, New York on February 13, 1931, to parents Samuel and Pauline (Cooper) Gofman. Herbert graduated from Isaac E. Young High School and went on to attend New York University. He earned a bachelor’s degree along with a master’s in business administration. He married Judith Safier on November 22, 1958.
Herbert had a successful career in investment management. He worked for various financial institutions such as Northern Trust, Chemical Bank, Bankers Trust, and most notably, H.B. Gofman Associates, which he owned and operated until his retirement.
He was a proud member of Temple Sinai and was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Herbert had a passion for his family, traveling, playing bridge, and woodworking.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Judith Gofman; his beloved children Sheryl Gofman and Steve (Haan-Fawn Chau) Gofman; his 4 cherished grandchildren, Sam Hajduk, Max Hajduk, Aaron Gofman, and Jasper Gofman; and many extended family and friends.
A Graveside service will be held on Sunday August 11, 2026, at 11am. Services will be held at Palms Memorial Park, located at 170 Honore Ave Sarasota, Florida 34232.
