I am trying to find out if this is the psychiatrist Jack Snyder who did his psychoanalytic training at William Alanson White Institute in NYC in the late 1980’s. Thank you for any information.

Jack Snyder
July 8th, 1951 - February 14th, 2019
Jack was one of the valedictorians of our class; he was Student Body President. Frankly, he seemed everywhere at once as he participated in numerous interest and service clubs. He was also chosen as the outstanding graduating student of the Los Angeles School System for Spring Semester, 1969. He was popular and he deserved this popularity because he was genuinely friendly and outgoing. We all new the joke about him looking like Clark Kent (he did!). Jack was an amazing superachiever. I may not have noticed as much at the time because he was just 'Jack'. I'm ashamed to admit I took him for granted.

Jack went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from the University of California, Irvine. He followed this with his graduation from the University of California School of Medicine-San Francisco, in 1977, and with a specialization in psychiatry. He completed an internship at St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital Center, in New York City, in 1978. He then completed his residency at Columbia-St. Lukes Hospital in NYC in 1980. Lastly, he completed a fellowship in 1982, also from Columbia-St. Lukes Hospital.

I last saw Jack 40 years ago, after the 10th year reunion. I happened to be in NYC and I was curious about his life. He appeared to love NYC. He talked about his apartment in the city and playing on his grand piano. He always loved music. We talked a little about psychiatry. I wish I had kept in touch with Jack, but I didn't. It appears he worked as a psychiatrist for many years, including up to or close to his death. He lived in New York City many years but he also lived in Florida (where he passed).

I of course wish I knew more details about Jack's life. Since I don't have these, I find my mind making them up. It is not hard to do. I just think about the Jack I knew in high school and I extrapolate into the future. I always come up with a life well-lived and with many accomplishments. 


Jack was a very good friend to me. We completed medical school at about the same time and over the next 2 decades shared many memorable days together.  I remember him with great fondness and his loss is a sorrow to me. My condolences to his family and friends.

Jack was a wonderful friend and partner. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family.
