

Jim graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1965, attended Syracuse University, and served honorably in the US Air Force.
After a distinguished career in the consumer-packaged goods industry, focused on the grocery and convenience-store sectors, Jim retired in 2018. He was known as a passionate leader and mentor to many coworkers.
An avid golfer, Jim cherished playing on some of the world's finest courses, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst No. 2, Bandon Dunes, and St. Andrews. He enjoyed every moment on the course with his friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lilli (Sterling) Powers; his children, TJ Powers (Rachel), Marisa Powers, Holiday Caton (Day), Meredith Headings (Jorge), and Devaron Headings; his six grandchildren, Blake, Heath, Tess, Kali, R.B., and Elise, who lovingly called him “Pop”; and his brother, Rick Powers (Betsy), and his sisters, Joann Urban and Wendy (John) Powers.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 8, 2026, at the Robert Toale and Sons Celebration of Life Center, 4310 Solution Center Lane, Lakewood Ranch, FL
