She is survived by her two sons, Jesse and Justin Bauer, who were the absolute center of her world. Janet was also a proud sister to Brian, Mark, Scott, and Paul, and a devoted animal mom to her beloved dogs Darrow and Frankie and her cat Jammin, who never lacked for affection or personality in her home.
A true free spirit of the 70s at heart, Janet loved nature, being outdoors, and soaking up life in her own unique way. She was a tireless worker, fiercely independent, and determined in everything she did. If something needed to be done, Janet would figure it out, often the hard way, and always on her own terms.
She was stubborn as an ox, refreshingly honest, and never shy about sharing exactly what was on her mind. Sometimes that honesty came with a raised eyebrow or a strong opinion, but it was always rooted in love and loyalty for the people she cared about most.
Janet’s longtime friendship with Tammy brought her endless joy, laughter, and companionship. Their bond was a bright spot in her life and one she cherished deeply.
Above all else, Janet was a mom first. She would move mountains for her boys and made sure they always knew they were loved, supported, and believed in.
She will be remembered for her big heart, strong will, free spirit soul, and the unmistakable presence she brought into every room. Life will not be quite as loud, honest, or colorful without her, but her spirit will live on in the stories, memories, and love she leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, located at 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL, 34232, United States. The service is scheduled for February 12, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
