Jerry L. Lester, 88, passed away in his Sarasota, FL home on Monday, June 23, 2025. He was the son of Earl and Evelyn (Robinson) Lester. Originally from Beaver City, Nebraska, Jerry spent much of his life living in Richmond, Missouri.
He was a man who loved the earth—from gardening to farming—he also spent many a morning up and at ’em caretaking to his beautiful gardens and baking fresh bread in his kitchen (his favorite with cinnamon sugar).
He also was an English teacher and administrator, who never forgot a name nor a face of his many students over the years. English was his expertise and sarcasm his tool. Anyone who knew him knew his sharp mind and quick sense of humor.
He was a loving and caring dad and grandfather.
He is survived by his children Lisa ie. his Spunky (Dave) DePino and Eric (Jackie) Lester, his 2 grandchildren Marissa (Mark) DePino and Vanessa DePino, and his brother Robin (Helen) Lester.
A celebration of life for Jerry will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers please plant a tree in his honor with the Arbor Day Foundation.
