

Born on March 30, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Anna Eichel Mechaber and George Mechaber. Jerry worked for various companies as an Electrical Engineer and was a partner in a hardware/software engineering search firm. He was passionate about mentoring high school kids in the FIRST robotics program and enjoyed books on tape, building furniture, fixing things and riding his bike.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, Sheridan Mechaber.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amelia Brock and former wife of 27 years, Joyce Mechaber; children, Jodi Mechaber-DiFori (Nicolas) and Glen Jared Mechaber (Michael); granddaughter, Olivia DiFiori; sister-in-law, Susan Mechaber Albanese; niece; Allyson Mechaber Fisher and nephew, Gregory Mechaber.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30th at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave. Sarasota, FL. A luncheon will follow the service at Amelia’s home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry’s name to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, Temple Shalom, 175 Temple Street, Newton, MA 02465.
Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park is in charge of the arrangements.
