John Albert Lauffer, 85, of Nokomis, Florida, passed away on August 29, 2026. Born May 6, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, to Blair and Eva Lauffer, John grew into a man defined by faith, hard work, and devotion to the people around him.
On October 2, 1965, he married Patricia (“Trish”) Glenn, and the two went on to share 60 years of marriage. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, after which he built a career as an accountant, working for various companies before starting his own business, JPL Accounting Services.
John was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and active in the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and the Chamber of Commerce. Beyond his work and his church, his life was shaped by his passions — his faith, his family, helping others, farming, woodworking, bicycling, and swimming.
John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his daughters, Jacquelyn Champagne and Jodi Acree (DeWayne); and his son, Timothy Lauffer. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jasmine Champagne, Gabrielle Acree, Lillian Day (Tyler), Caleb Acree, and Isaiah Acree; his great-grandson, Silas Patrick Day; and his sister, Claire Grabovez (Vic).
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Craig Champagne.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 425 S. Tamiami Trail, in Osprey, FL, 34229.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church or the Knights of Columbus Council 15821, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.
