John Henry Puckhaber

John was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to John Herman and Elvira (Hahn) Puckhaber on December 7, 1928. He graduated with a BS from Rutgers University in 1954. He retired as a Director of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells.

John was active in the Stroudsburg Score Program mentoring those wishing to start their own business, and as President of the Western Pocono Lions Club for several terms. John was a gentle man who never raised his voice and extended kindness to everyone. He loved his gardens, growing many varieties of vegetables. After retirement, he enjoyed the garden and his workshop where he taught his grandsons to use the tools and build something for their rooms.

John is preceded in death by Norma Gery Puckhaber, his wife of 34 years. John is survived by his wife Hannah, his brother Charles Puckhaber (Dana), daughters Patricia Ann Zerega (W. Dennis), and Lynn Ellen Hoff (Victor Offman), son Howard Charles Lewin (Justine Schreyer), sister-in-law Marilyn B. Carroll, grandchildren David Zerega (Beth Gaertner), Michael Zerega (Catherine), Eric Hoff, Zoe Lewin, Gabriella Lewin, Jordan Podell, and Evan Podell, great-grandchildren Lydia Zerega, Mathilda Zerega, and James Zerega, as well as many nephews and nieces.

Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Valleau Cemetery NJ.
