Hi Joyce.  It’s been 4 years.  I wish I could sit with you and tell you all that has happened in 4 years.  There have been lots of changes in the neighborhood yet, somehow, things stay the same.  Some have passed, some have moved but the core group is still here.  We were all just talking about the estate sale at your house and how much every piece means to each of us.  Your spirit (and good taste) is spread throughout the neighborhood.  I miss your laugh and that smile that touched us and warmed our hearts.  You may be gone for now but we will see you again.  I will always love you.

Joyce came into my life when we both moved to Longview at around the same time.  She quickly became my Buddy - we vacationed together and most importantly, shopped together!  She had such a joy for life!  I loved her.  We lost touch over the years and I missed her greatly. I loved her parents and her deep love for them.  We shared the absolute best of times!  Joyce was a beautiful blessing.  Rest in the sweetest of peace my friend - you are reunited with your beautiful parents.

Sagittarius “sister” and right from the first time we met, a year after  we moved here,7 years ago..I always felt a special magnetic attraction to you, your bubbly personality, such a loving caring person to all she met!! To  our dear friend, Joyce.  The days have passed and, even though we have had to accept that you are no longer with us,  it is still so hard to believe that we won't hear your infectious laughter and see your warm and beautiful smile.   There are so many memories of bunco, bingo, girls' nights at the movies, girls' nights out, party girls events, adventures (ICE at the Gaylord and renting a van to go to Bern's Steakhouse), cruises and our evening walks.  You made every event more fun just by bringing your sense of humor and your eternal happiness.  We could never be down or not have a good time when you were along.  To help our friends remember your name on a cruise, we nicknamed you Joyful Joyce.  So descriptive of the joy that always bubbled to the surface and spread among everyone you met.  You will always be in our hearts  and your memory will never fade.

Joyce was so full of life, so vibrant, that weeks after her passing it's still so hard to believe that she is really gone- so suddenly and way too soon. I will always have such beautiful memories of my dear sweet friend. She had such beautiful taste, she should have been an interior designer, always redecorating her already gorgeous home. Wayfair I'm sure is wondering why she hasn't called. I have several of her cast-offs now in my home that I will always treasure. How she loved her gardening-my husband Jim gave her several plant clippings that we saw bloom to such beauty on her lanai. The day before she went into the hospital Jim gave her a clipping that she was excited to pot, sadly she never got to see it grow. And her beautiful shoes! We wore the same size and I was always admiring her latest fabulous pair. And her fear of snakes! Jim was always teasing her about that. Joyce was such a social person, it's a triple whammy that she had to pass just when she was so excited that life was starting to return to normal after covid, planning bingo, bunco and much more. Bingo will never be the same without Joyce, if I needed one more number to win, she would enthusiastically root for that number and be so happy for others to win. And she won almost every time-I always told her how lucky she was! A few years ago she gave our bingo group the sweetest bingo angel pins that now will have special new meaning when we play again- like she will still be there playing along with us.  She loved her dog Benny and I know she is now with him- but not resting-I'm sure she's busily redecorating heaven and organizing daily bingo games! Love you Joyce my sweet pea friend, we'll meet again.❤❤❤

Danny, Sydney, Alyson, Peyton and I will greatly miss you. We all love you so very much. 

There are so many memories and special things we will miss about you. We will miss the texts we get from you just checking in on us, your infectious laugh, sharing what has been going on in our lives, showing you dance and cheerleading videos, teaching you how to face time and snap chat, coming down to visit you and swimming in your pool and so much more. 

I am sure you are in heaven with Na-Na, Geeg, and Tami. You have left much too soon, but that must mean that God has a better plan for you. You are an angel now and you belong in heaven with Jesus.

Joyce was very successful throughout her life.  Starting at Cincinnati Bell when she was 18, she climbed the ladder until she became an Executive Secretary.  In New Jersey she started her own Real Estate business and became a top seller.  In 2008 she started her own business on eBay selling luxury handbags all over the world.  Like her mother, Josephine, she could sell ice to the Eskimos!  Joyce and I traveled all over the world.  Some of her favorite spots were Santorini, Hawaii, Bermuda, The Virgin Islands, Tuscany and Florence.  Her least favorite was Tokyo only because she didn’t enjoy the food.  Our very first trip together was to Marco Island in 1977 for our honeymoon, and we revisited Marco every year for 30 years.  Having said all that, she always loved being back home.  In 2008, we built our home on Little Country Road in River Wilderness where we had many wonderful friends.  She really poured her heart and soul into that house and truly loved everything about RW.  We met many interesting people along the way, and some of her favorites were Lang Lang, Fabio, Roger Williams, who was very fond of Joyce, and Henry Steinway.  In 2007 we were at the White House with Henry when President Bush awarded him the National Medal of Arts.  This was one of many memorable events.  Her favorite concerts were Frank Sinatra in 1976, and Andy Williams at Cincinnati Music Hall who made his appearance from the back of the hall and stopped to shake hands with Joyce.  And even though we drifted apart, and divorced in 2015, I have many fond memories that I will always remember.  Joyce had a good and gracious heart and a spirited soul, and I wish she would not have been taken so early.  Even though she would have turned 80 next year, she never looked her age and had much more life to enjoy.  She always said she wanted to live as long as Angelo who made it to 97.  May Joyce Rest in Peace.  I know she is in heaven (with Benny) because she deserves to be there.  In loving memory, FM.

My memories of Joyce are all about smiles. She always seemed happy, and she radiated Joy. I do have one indelible memory, though, of Joyce and a bunch of Steinway folks during some free time at a Steinway meeting at The Breakers - the landmark, Flagler-built, beachfront hotel in Palm Beach, FL. A number of us had gathered at the pool, and the bar service was terrific. They would bring drinks right to the pool, even for guests who were IN the pool. Most everyone was drinking “Mudslides”. And I can clearly remember Joyce, waste-deep in the pool, sipping hers through a straw! I’ve been meaning to try a Mudslide ever since, but I’m sort of hung up on Martinis. It’s amazing how a memory like that can remain so vivid in the brain. That adventure was about 30 years ago. I’ll miss you, Joyce, as will the many others who have posted memories here.

You will be in my prayers beautiful friend. I will always remember your warmth and kindness to me and my husband. You were a very special woman. May Angels surround you and bring to Him In Paradise 

I have so many great memories of Joyce that I couldn't really pick one to just put in here. She was definitely the kind of person that made an impact on your life just by knowing her. I was extremely saddened when I heard about her passing, we knew she was in the hospital with very serious complications from her surgery however I guess it was too much for her. I'll always remember Joyce and her dog Benny and the times we spent with her and her ex-husband Frank at their home. Heaven has another good one now, God bless you Joyce

RIP Aunt Joyce, I will miss our conversations about puppies and telling you all my stories about teaching so far. I will hold onto our time very close. We will all miss you so much. 

RIP dear sister.  I certainly will miss our conversations on decorating and yard work.  I think we both inherited dad’s green thumb.
We would like to thank Joyce’s neighbors and friends for the love and support you showed her.  She enjoyed all your company.  She called you her “extended family” and for this we are grateful.
You are gone way too soon.

My heart goes out to Joyce's family who have lost her far too soon and to her treasured family of friends. I could never have wished for a better and more supportive friend and I am sure she brought that same warmth and generous spirit to all who will always love her and cherish her memory. Each time we spoke she expressed her gratitude for the wonderful friendship of her neighbors and how much they had enriched her life and brought her happiness. I hope that those of you who are among this group know how much you all meant to her. None of us who have known and loved Joyce will ever forget her.

Rest in peace, my sweet friend.  I hope you know how much you are loved and how greatly you will be missed.  You will always be in my heart and the hearts of your many friends.  

Joyce, you have left a void in so many lives and hearts. You touched more people than you ever knew. You were our sunshine, the  positive, loving, caring friend to all. You will dearly be missed.
You made Dennis and my life so exciting and happy.. You were the ‘glue’.
