Kathleen Angona-Goodwin, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 in Sarasota, FL. Kathy was born on February 3rd, 1952 to Tom and Dianne Angona in Flushing, Queens Hospital, NY. Kathy briefly lived in Oceanside, NY and Glen Cove, NY but grew up in Baldwin, NY. She spent the latter part of her life in Sarasota, FL that she loved so much. Kathy graduated from Baldwin High School in 1970 and was president of the very popular sorority, OKY. She later went to Suffolk County Community College and earned her masters degree in Special Education where she taught Special Ed kids and loved every minute of it.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Gary Goodwin; sisters, Connie, Dianne (Candy), Patty; nephew, Joseph and niece, Samantha.
She is in heaven now with her parents, Tom and Dianne, whom she had a very close relationship with.
Kathy was also very close with Amanie Tomlinson, 16, that she mentored since Amanie was 3 years old and Amanie’s mother, Felicia Phillips. Amanie was the apple of Kathy’s eye and was so proud of her.
Most know Kathy’s fight with depression for many years. She put up a good fight but is now at peace. Kathy, you’ll be missed by many!!
