Nov. 20, 1944 – Sept. 15, 2013
Kathy was born in Lima Ohio to C.G. “Nick” and Dorothy Fritz and was raised in Delphos, Ohio. She grew up surrounded by numerous Uncles and Aunts and enjoyed small town life. She had a wonderful childhood and very loving parents. Kathy’s father was in the National Guard and was transferred to Sarasota in 1959, she graduated from Sarasota High School in 1962 and Kathy remained in Sarasota for the rest of her life.
Kathy married Horace in 1964 and they remained married until her death. Horace has always said that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. She helped Horace run his business for thirty seven years as the vice president and bookkeeper of Holland Plumbing Service. She also sold real estate for several years and was cofounder and owner of Pitter Patter, a children’s resale shop. She sold Pitter Patter in 2003. Kathy was a proud member of the Daughters of The American Revolution.
Kathy was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She cared for her parents and her brother when they were ill. She was always there for her husband as a partner and a friend, showing both Horace and her children unconditional love. She taught by example how to be a good parent and Kathy provided before and after care when her granddaughters were in grade school. She also watched them in the summer, which her granddaughters referred to as “camp grandma”. In Kathy’s world, family was always the number one priority.
Kathy had numerous close friends many of whom considered Kathy their best friend. She was known for her truthful and sensible advice, sense of humor, and loyalty. Her friends will feel a void without her presence in their lives.
In 1986, Kathy and Horace designed and built their current home in eight months. Kathy painted every board inside and outside, and decorated the house herself in an antique theme. She was always pleasantly surprised when people complimented her home.
Kathy enjoyed shopping, especially for other people. She enjoyed the challenge of finding a good bargain and a great gift. Her favorite stores to shop in were antique and second hand furniture stores. She was also an avid reader.
In the last several years of her life, Kathy and Horace traveled the country with their fifth wheel in tow. They traveled throughout the United States and Canada from Prince Edward Island to California. Kathy loved traveling with Horace and they felt that their travels brought them even closer together.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents C.G. “Nick” and Dorothy Fritz, and brother, Richard Fritz. She is survived by her husband, Horace, son Cameron, daughter in law Nova, daughter Alyse McFadden, brother, Larry Fritz, and granddaughters, Macy, Laney, and Tatum.
