Kenneth Craig “KC” Morton of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on May 8, 2026 at the age of 75. He was born on September 25, 1950, to Ted and Pauline Morton in Tampa, Florida. After moving to Sarasota in 1951, Kenny was educated at Happiness House, later known as Easter Seals, and graduated from Sarasota High School in 1972.
KC was a big Beatles fan, a lover of great food, and a movie buff, but above all, baseball was his greatest passion. He attended countless games at Payne Park and Ed Smith Stadium, cheering on the White Sox from his reserved seat beside the dugout, where he had the opportunity to meet coaches and players who always brought a smile to his face. Over the years, he traveled with his family to see many out-of-town games and met baseball legends and personalities such as Hank Aaron, Harry Caray, and many others - experiences that became some of his favorite memories.
In his youth, KC worked at Morton’s Market, where he was responsible for filing the neighborhood house account charges. He also loved reading voraciously and would be seen riding his bike around Harbor Acres.
KC’s smile and laughter were infectious. Anyone in his presence could feel the love he radiated through his positive attitude and genuine care for others. Whenever family or friends were leaving to visit others, he would always end the conversation by saying, “Send them my love and be careful.”
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ted and Pauline Morton. He is survived by his older brother, Eddie; his twin brother, Denny (Edye); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, Dinise MacPhail.
A requiem service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer on June 3rd at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in KC’s honor to Easter Seals of Southwest Florida (easterseals-swfl.org)
