Lorna Marie Abercrombie

Lorna Abercrombie, age 80, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024. Lorna and her husband, David moved to Sarasota, Florida from Muncie, Indiana in June 2002. Born and raised in Muncie, Indiana, Lorna married her Marine sweetheart David on July 6, 1963.

Lorna is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Abercrombie; her children, Kelly Abercrombie (Todd Kerber) and Melissa Marts (Tony); as well as two grandchildren, Connor Marts and Rachel Marts. She is also survived by a brother, Duane Johnson (Debbie), sister in law Carol Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews and special family of choice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Leota Johnson; two sisters, Hope Beaty and Patricia Oliver; two brothers, Norman "Larry" Johnson and Stephen Johnson.

Lorna was born in Muncie, Indiana on September 8, 1943 to Everett and Leota Johnson. She was the most amazing wife and mother. She raised her two daughters with so much love always making sure they were safe and happy. She could light up the room with her smile and loved singing in church. She was strong in her Christian faith and loved her church family.

Visitation for Lorna will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church, 4249 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34232. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.

The committal service will be from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to charity of donor’s choice.
