

Louis Nahon was born on December 20, 1928 in Tiaret, Algeria, the fourth of five children of Samuel Nahon, a tailor, and his wife Georgette. Louis was educated in French primary schools, and began his apprenticeship as a tailor at age 12. Louis and his family settled in the US in 1947. He married Colette Cohen, of Tlemcen, Algeria in 1962. Together they raised three wonderful sons, Laurent, Philippe, and Claude. Louis and Colette worked together in their dry cleaning/tailor shop Kemper Cleaners on Siesta Drive for more than 20 years. The family lived initially in upstate New York, moving to Sarasota in 1974. Louis and Colette enjoyed the arts, Caribbean cruises, and European vacations.
He passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017.
Louis is survived by Colette, Laurent and Claude Nahon, his sister Marcelle Coons, his four adored grandsons, Lucas, Benjamin, Louis and Raphael Nahon, his daughters-in-law Francine Alfandary and Shelley Cleveland, and his step-granddaughter Ashleigh Wheeler. He will be mourned by his extended family in the US, Quebec, France and Israel, and by legions of devoted friends.
The funeral service took place on Thursday, August 3, at Temple Beth Sholom.
