After a courageous 4-year battle with cancer, Marcosa Estrada also known as “Marie” passed away peacefully on December 13, 2015 in Sarasota, FL at the age of 61. Marie will forever be remembered by her beloved daughters, Ashley Estrada, and Aimee Venturina and husband, Jhon Venturina; her beloved son, Alex Torres and fiancée, Marlenis Fernandez; treasured grandchildren, Jherreld and Jadyn Venturina; 14 nephews and nieces, along with countless other friends and families whom were blessed to know her.
Marie was born on April 25, 1954 in the Philippines, to father Domingo La Rosa and mother Primitiva Robles La Rosa, who predeceased her. She grew up in a large, loving family with two sisters, Maria Sandoval and Cristeta Escobar, and three brothers, Antonio La Rosa, Jose La Rosa and Virgilio La Rosa. Marie was educated in the Philippines and made her home in the United States in 1988. She lived in Danbury, CT for about six years, and then moved to Sarasota, FL in 1994. Marie worked as a Registered Nurse in the Philippines, in Danbury, CT and in Sarasota, FL for over 30 years.
Marie was an incredible person who loved listening to music, playing the guitar, singing, laughing, being with her family and having fun with friends. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Marie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her will to fight her illness all the way to the end. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman even throughout her final months.
Visitation will begin on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34232. The family will be there until 8:00 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. There will be a memorial discourse at 7:00 pm. Friends and families are also invited to attend the interment on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 10:00 am also at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually as they find comfort and hope from one of her favorite scriptures found in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". A special thank you to Marie’s sister Cristeta Escobar, niece Grace La Rosa, and very close friend Glenda Rollins, for their unconditional love and support both to Marie and her family especially in the last few days of her life.
