Marden David Paru aged seventy-nine (79) of Sarasota Florida passed away on Wednesday, September 01, 2021. He was the son of the late Rabbi Issac & Edith Paru. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Kemeny Paru, and children: Victor Paru of Beaverton Oregon and Elana Paru Spevack (husband Michael) of Forest Hills New York. He had two grandchildren, Lyla Rose Paru and Noa Iris Spevack. He is also survived by his sister Rachel Paru Terk (husband Harold) of Stamford, Connecticut and many nieces and nephews.
Marden was a respected educator, author, community leader, beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend and mentor. He will be forever remembered for his devotion for all things Jewish and his passion for community building. Across his professional and personal life, education was always an important focus. He served many organizations ranging from Jewish Federations, to Israeli educational institutions, and has been a founding member of multiple synagogues and chavurot. Marden embraced his “family” of relatives, students, colleagues and peers. He will be deeply missed, but those who knew and worked with him, will remember his brilliant mind, his loving soul, quick wit and contagious sense of humor.
