Margaret J. Holub, an 86-year-old resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Born on February 23, 1940, in Glen Cove, New York, Margaret grew up in a family with two sisters and a brother. Despite never pursuing higher education, she embraced independence and worked diligently after graduating high school.
Margaret’s life took a significant turn when she met her lifelong partner at a friend’s wedding. They exchanged vows in 1961 and settled in Floral Park, New York. After the birth of their eldest son, they relocated to Smithtown, New York, to raise their family before eventually moving to Florida in 2002. Throughout her life, Margaret consistently provided a loving and nurturing home for her children. She was the quintessential mom on the block—a working mom who remained devoted to her husband and children.
Margaret and her husband collaborated in various businesses over the years, with some ventures achieving greater success than others. After her husband discovered his passion for teaching and typography in New York City, Margaret continued to work in typography on Long Island. As each of her children grew older, graduated from college, and embarked on their respective careers, Margaret expressed immense pride in their achievements.
When Margaret and her husband moved to Florida, their love for each other grew even stronger, and they really enjoyed their road trips and beach days. Margaret even took up golf, which added a whole new fun thing to her life.
Margaret stood by her husband’s side during his battle with cancer, providing unwavering care and love until his passing in 2022. After his passing, she embraced solitude and found comfort in the visits from her family. She always made everyone feel welcome and cherished the preciousness of life. Margaret’s love became more openly expressed, and she formed deep connections with her grandchildren. She ensured that she made time for them, showering them with love and attention.
In September 2025, she had the privilege of attending her granddaughter Meghan’s wedding and reuniting with her entire family for one last time. As her son George became a father later in life, she cherished his son Jayden and made him feel cherished and welcomed in the family.
She was a devoted Knicks fan and delighted in witnessing their triumph in securing another championship.
She is survived by her sons, George of Parrish, Florida, William of Garden City, New York, and Patrick of Springfield, Virginia. She is also survived by her daughter-in-laws, Concetta of Garden City, New York, and Jennifer of Springfield, Virginia. Additionally, they are accompanied by her beautiful grandchildren, Claudia (Michael Spiegel), Meghan (Patrick Rita), Samantha, Mackenzie, and Jayden. Despite having only sons, her love for her daughter-in-laws was immense, and she always made them feel like her own daughters.
She is preceded in death by her husband George, her parents Joseph and Alice Samoske, and her in-laws, George and Anna Holub.
