Margaret H. Snoots has left for a heavenly reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Her travels will take her to wonderful places where she will be socializing, dancing and reading to her heart’s content. “Books are a uniquely portable magic” said by Stephen King, one of her favorite writers. Her 80 amazing years ended on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, FL. Born on April 6, 1941 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) Maurice Hagerhorst and Nellie Lee Booker Hagerhorst. She loved and adored her parents. Preceding her in death was her one true love and husband of 63 years, Lawrence (Larry) E. Snoots. They met in middle school and literally shared their entire lives together. She lost two sons, Francis “Frank” X. Snoots and Richard “Rich” S. Dougherty way too soon and her sister Marion Alexander.

Margaret is survived by one brother, John Hagerhorst & his wife Suzie. Still carrying the light of her life are her two oldest children: Teresa “Terry” C. Lanham and her husband David of Edmond, OK, and Lawrence “Cory” E. Snoots, III, of Sarasota, FL. Her sister-in-law, Kay Powers Riley was more of a sister and friend and she loved her niece, Mary Kathleen “Katie” Riley, deeply and visited them often in Hanover, MD. There are seven grandchildren: Megan Watt (Victor), Amy Akin (J.B.), Sarah Cain (Aaron), Will Johnson, Sebrina Snoots, Christina “Kricy” Snoots, Samuel “Sam” Snoots, and seven great-grandchildren: Raven Akin, Luke Akin, Destiny White, Travis Snoots, Jackson Rocamontes, Arya Watt and Colson Cain.

Margaret and Larry shared their time with old friends and new in Ocean City, MD and enjoyed “Happy Hours”, dinners and so much more! She was called "Auntie M" by her three "Ocean City" kids. By the multitude of Mother’s Day cards, which arrived each May, her love went beyond immediate family. Her cat, Gidget, one of many black cats in her life, brought her laughter while she was constantly saying “ouch" as Gidget nipped at her lovingly. “The phrase ‘domestic cat’ is an oxymoron.” by George Will, sums that up. Margaret had a wealth of knowledge on many topics. Her “home medicine” advice always worked to do the trick! We will miss her kindness and encouraging words. She was loved by so many, she will be missed. In lieu of flowers or to make a donation in her name to the Worcester County Humane Society please visit www.worcestercountyhumanesociety.org or mail to PO Box 48, Berlin, MD 21811. A celebration of life service will held on Saturday, July 31st, 2pm at the Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232.
